Curriculum Overview: Based on The Yoga Alliance Requirements
100 Hours:
Techniques Training/Practice—Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours must be a
mix between (1) analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques, and (2) guided practice of the techniques themselves; both areas must receive substantial emphasis.

25 Hours:
Teaching Methodology—Includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the student's process of learning, and business aspects of teaching yoga.

20 Hours:
Anatomy & Physiology—Includes both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras,
nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc).

30 Hours:
Yoga Philosophy/Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers—Includes the study of yoga philosophies, yoga lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers.

10 Hours:
Practicum—Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing/giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while
someone else is teaching.

15 Hours:
Remaining Hours - Hours to be distributed among the categories above according to the school’s chosen emphasis.

*Apprenticeship Program Details-
Over the course of the program you need to observe 20 Yoga Classes and Attend 6 Morning Meditation classes. This breaks down to one Yoga class per week for three weeks, then alternate in one Meditation class to comprise a month. This way you have a little wiggle room in case you miss a week.

Yoga:
  • •You may participate for the first three weeks as a student.
  • After that you should be actively developing your critical eye by observing the class and taking notes.
  • There are many subtleties to teaching yoga, you will need to observe carefully.
  • After each class you will write a short paragraph journaling your observations. Turn it in to Bhakti who will initial your form.
  • At a certain point you may be invited to participate as an assistant teacher as well.
  • Committing to a particular class will provide you more opportunities to bond with the instructor and students and perhaps increase your ability to participate in the teaching process. The best classes to work with are Basics or Hatha 1-2.

Meditation:
  • You may attend as many Morning Meditation Classes as you like.
  • There are no formal writing assignments.
