About Rachel Levi, RYT 200:
Hatha
yoga helped Rachel regain her equilibrium
after a “Diet Coke and nicotine-fueled
tilt-a whirl late adolescence.” Within
months of starting her practice, she
recognized the multi-dimensional benefits
of yoga: peace of mind, enhanced energy,
and an inner wellspring of gratitude.
Downward dogs and pigeon poses accompanied
Rachel as she completed her undergraduate
degree, taught high school English, studied
the Humanities at the University of
Chicago, and undertook a glamorous stint as
a temporary nanny. Shortly after starting
classes at Chi-Town Shakti, Rachel felt an
intense connection to this new neighborhood
studio. In the spring of 2009, she
interned
for
Chi-Town; the process transformed her
concept of yoga. Though the glories of
practice may include fitness and
stress-relief, it is yoga’s power to
facilitate profound spiritual growth
that continues to inspire her. In July
of 2009, Rachel completed her 200 hour
HYTT certification under the tutelage of
Bhakti, Gita and Akaram.
Now, as yoga teacher, she encourages a
peaceful, welcoming atmosphere in her
classes. In her instruction, she balances
careful attendance to principles of
alignment with invitations for students to
practice in a way that serves each
individual’s unique needs. It is Rachel’s
sincere pleasure to end each class with the
traditional yogic salute “the highest
potential in me, honors the highest
potential in you.”
