About Jocelyn Sanders, RYT 200:
Connecting to happiness through physical activity has always been easy for Jocelyn. She was placed in Ballet classes by her mother when she was 4 years old as a way to ward off clumsiness. That prompted Jocelyn to continue dancing through her adolecense and into college, taking not only Ballet, but Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, African and many more styles of movement. In high school, Jocelyn joined the dance team to further integrate dance into her life, as well as cheerleading, choir, and voice lessons to more wholly round out her physical training. When Jocelyn entered college, she discovered that acting was a good way to integrate all of these disciplines into her life and have fun too! But it was during her dance classes back in McMinnville, Oregon that she got her first taste of these strange yoga poses. Only knowing yoga from those classes and her Rodney Yee VHS, Jocelyn bravely entered a classroom one day in Chicago to begin, what she considers, her real yoga training. It was there that she found the possibilities are endless. Jocelyn found Chi-Town Shakti one day while walking home from a friend's house (where she was doing some yoga) and was so excited to see a yoga studio in the neighborhood! She began taking classes not too long after the studio opened, and later decided that maybe taking the Teacher Training would be a perfect complement to her work as a massage therapist. Being a recent graduate of Shambhava Yoga, Jocelyn is so thankful to her teachers Bhakti, Gita, and Akaram for their support and love. She feels a deep sense of gratitude to be able to teach and share yoga with other people, and for finding such a rich and beautiful tradition that truly brings yoga off the mat and into her life with daily focus, discipline and heart. Jocelyn hopes to convey this warmth in her classes, and mix it up with some laughter and surrender and send her students back out into the world feeling enriched and enlivened and ready for our Windy City!

Please arrive early, the office opens 15 minutes before each class. Classes begin on time. Once the class has begun the doors are locked for security purposes.
