About Gita Delashmitt, E-RYT
200:
Gita
began her yogic exploration in 2006. Faced
with the reality of life after school and
suffering from severe back pain she found
yoga. What first started as 'affordable'
health care soon became a life changing
experience. She saw a powerful
transformation in her body through the
practice of physical yoga, so she decided
to try meditation to focus her mind. One
spiritual quest later and now she has
immersed herself in the life of an urban
yogini. As a 'full-time' yogini she
dedicates her life to helping others in
their explorations.
She currently teaches yoga full-time on the
north side. As a proud member of CSGSY,
Gita teaches meditation, manages programs
and events, and plays in the kirtan band!!
She has obtained her 200 hour certification
as well as Levels 2, 3, Prenatal yoga, and
attended many workshops to continue her
education. Other formats she has taught are
Gentle yoga, Introduction to yoga, Golden
Yoga (Yoga for the elderly), Yoga Elements,
Multi-Level and Vinyasa. She has also
offered workshops on Restorative Yoga,
Chanting, Meditation and has assisted in
several of Chi-Town Shakti's teacher
training programs.
In Gita's classes there is an emphasis on
exploration, alignment, inner discovery,
and community. With a belief that asking
questions without judgement can be
informative and freeing, she uses the
breath to delve deeper into exploration.
Her classes are kept fresh by "changing it
up" with tools like partner's work, props,
physical adjustments, rhythm and chanting.
Gita has always enjoyed being in service to
her community and is excited to meet new
neighbors. She hopes to empower her
students with the thirst for personal
growth through self inquiry.

Dog)

"Gita
has a real gift for explaining the poses
and describing any adjustments that are
needed to get the maximum benefit out of
the pose. I have always had trouble
following verbal cues for physical poses,
but Gita's guidance is always crystal
clear. She is also really mindful of what
poses are well suited to a prenatal
practice, and every class includes poses
that address the immediate needs of a
pregnant woman as well as prepare the body
(and mind!) for labor and delivery."
